In Japan, classical swine fever (CSF) continues to occur, and even vaccination—the most effective countermeasure—has not been sufficient to halt its spread. Outbreaks of CSF cause severe economic losses and lead to instability in pork supply, underscoring the urgent need for more effective solutions.
In this proposal, our ultimate goal is to create and commercialize CSF‑resistant pigs that cannot be developed through conventional breeding approaches. To achieve this, we will identify host factors essential for CSF infection and establish the technological and industrial foundations required for practical implementation and commercialization.
