Terephthalic acid, which is currently produced from fossil resources through chemical processes and widely used as a raw material for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and related products, is targeted for production via biological processes using unused biomass resources generated in rural areas. The social implementation of this technology is expected to promote the effective utilization of biomass resources, contribute to the revitalization of rural regions, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming.
